Happy Birthday

Today would be my moms birthday. I have missed 21 birthdays with her since we celebrated her last birthday. It was her 47th birthday and I had a lady at work to make her a cake of Sam's Drive-In. A place my mom loved to hang out when she was a teenager and a place where she meet my dad for the first time.

I can not believe that she has been gone this long. I will be turning 47 this April and this is so young for someone to have to leave the ones she loves.

Today is also my wonderful nephew Mason birthday. He is 11 years old today!! I know he probably thinks that I am the worst aunt ever for not spending one birthday with him but I have always called him and told him Happy Birthday. I wish with all my heart that things could be different and we could spend every birthday together and visit each other more often. I just pray that one day you will grow up and understand that my life is limited to where I get to visit because I have always got to think about Clay and what he can handle. My whole life evolves around my sons and their disabilities. I know right now it is hard to understand but I promise you one thing I am always a phone call away if you ever really need me I will be there. Love you  Mason. I also appreciate that you still let me hug you a lot when you get to come to my house at Christmas.

Snow...

I love snow. I wish that we had snow every winter. I was thinking last night how many snows  that really made memories for me. I remember when I was in the 5th grade and we lived in Rockingham NC. It never really snowed that much there because Rockingham is pretty far south. Well this year it snowed a big snow. We lived in town and there was  a lot of neighborhood kids. We had a ball playing in the snow. One of the neighbor kids had a toboggan sled. Here are a few pictures from Rockingham.

The next snow that stands out in my mind was when I was 19 years old and I worked a Spring Mills in Biscoe NC. It snowed every Saturday for 3 weeks and it did not get warm enough during the week to melt any of the snow. The mill I worked at did not close for anything. I had to ride to work with my neighbor. I  do not have any pictures from this snow.

The next memorable snow was in 2000 when we got 27 inches of snow. I would love to see one more snow like this before my lifetime is over.

The snow that came Tuesday night January 28 it was a tiny snow but I was really wanting to see a snow before winter leaves and spring comes.

Bugsy Calf

Bugsy had her calf last night or early this morning. She was smart and had hers in the stable. I went out this afternoon and took a few pictures of them.

New Calf

We have another new calf. We are not very creative with names. The first cow that had a calf was "Mama". The cow that had a calf today is "Other Mama". We are waiting on one more cow whose name is "Bugsy" to have her calf. Our bulls name is Jimmy, aka Jimmy Legs from the movie "Kangaroo Jack". Oh well that is enough about names. Here is the latest addition to our cow family.

These are not the best pictures because of the fence but I did not think about the fence being in the way when I was taking the pictures. Maybe Bugsy will have hers in the next few days.

We are still out of chickens. Farmer has been cleaning fans and getting ready for new babies in about another week or two.

I keep you informed on farm.

Your Happy Place???

I have often tried to figure out my happy place. I have read motivation books that tell you to relax and go to your happy place. I can even get my brain to cooperate to do this. I would say my happy place is the beach!

These were taken last year at Huntington beach state park in SC. Clay loves the beach as much as I do. He is always packed and ready to go. The last words he says before he goes to bed is BEACCCCHHH and he will not go to sleep until you say "yes the beach". Just love my boy!! I hope some day that we can stay summers at the beach. It never hurts to dream.

My second happy place would be at home. When I want a picture of the house I can not find one. Oh well.

Clay had really did good with keeping his room clean this time.

Well I guess that is all I have for now.

Free time....

What is a mom to do with free time? This is so rare at my house that I am always lost of what to do. First thing I did was to clean Clay's room. I clean his room once a week and it could stand it more than that but he hates for me to clean his room. He keeps a messing but organized room. I need to take before and after pictures. This is Clay's room clean. He will not let me make his bed up correctly so I can get by with this. I have all of his stuff animals all put up and the floors vacuumed. When he gets home and fixes it back the way he wants it I will take some more pictures.

They left at 9:00 this morning and I cleaned his room and then I decided to take a walk.
Are new calf was standing up this morning

Look how muddy it is from all of the rain

After my walk I took a shower, had a bite of lunch and now I am writing in my blog. It is almost 1:00 oclock and I expect the boys will be home soon. Not much for exciting free time. I kind of miss them.

New life on the farm

We have a new calf this morning. I got to watch it be born. This is the first time I have ever watch in real life. I have seen many calves born on tv, and I have seen a lot of them right after they were  born, but I got to see this one be born. It was so amazing to see your cow have a baby. I will not post the pictures of the calf emerging into the world. I will take more later when the calf is up and walking around.

Boredom

Do you ever have days of boredom??? I know I have millions of things I could do like do some deep house cleaning, exercise, or something. I can not really think of things that have to
be done. I could clean out cabinets  but they just get messed up again quickly. I could go outside but it is cold and nothing really to do out there. Clay is the most happy when I am just sitting in the den and hanging out with him while he watches tv, ipad, eats, and drinks (kool-ade).  Sometimes I think I am just lazy but I will get up and do something. I think I will. I have got to go take a picture of my lucky number. I really don't have one but Seth said I should pick six and take a picture of his sticks so I think I will go do that and then walk on my treadmill.

Getting on track....

The plan was to get back on my weight loss track after Christmas. I have not succeed yet. I track my calories on a website and an app called fitness pal this is how I have lost the 30 pounds that I have lost so far. I was on facebook and saw a friend of mine is doing a 10 pound challenge until the end of January on the body by V diet. I am can not replace a meal with a shake, I have to have real food. This friend inspired me by posting a video of her getting on the scales and weighing an posted it on facebook. I could never do this. I would be so embarrassed and scared that I would not lose any weight. She is brave and I am proud of her and support her.

I love this  quote I found that fits me to a tee:

My life is a
constant battle
between my love
of food and not
wanting to be fat.

I did do bad yesterday to finish off my last splurging days I made my moms famous coconut pie.
Yummy

 Well thanks for stopping by.

January 2014 Photo Challenge

I found this photo challenge on pinterest and thought it would be fun to do. I love taking pictures and would love to get better at it. I thought this would be a good way to start off the new year.
Day 1: Lunch

Day 2: G - glasses

Day 3: Hometown

Day 4: Words to live by

I have also been thinking about my new year word "believe".

I believe I can get back on track with my healthy weight loss. I have not been doing good since Thanksgiving and I have gained about 4 pounds. I have gotten in a habit of eating after supper again and I have got to stop. Maybe writing this down will help me get back on track.
