Tomatoes... One happy woman...

My tomatoes started coming in. I am one happy woman. I love to can salsa, spaghetti sauce and this year I canned some soup starter. I hope we have a lot more tomatoes. I have already canned around 100 pints of salsa. I canned 9 quarts of sop starter and 1 pint.  The next batch of ripe ones I am making spaghetti sauce. I hope the Farmer kills a lot of deer this winter. I love ground deer meat in my soup and spaghetti.

We also found a bunch of concord grapes on the vines at grandma's house. The hedge bushes have almost taken over the vine but I talked the Farmer into cutting it away so we could get to the grapes.

I hope to make some jelly with them. We set an owl decoy out there hoping to keep the birds from eating them all. We also noticed some milkweed in the field. I have not seen any in a very long time.

I had the Farmer plow down the green beans, squash and cucumbers. It had gotten so hot around here they were not doing good any more and I had an over abundance of them. I have made 4 gallons of pickles, frozen 30 quarts of shredded zucchini  and I have a bushel of spaghetti squash. I don't know what to do with that many.

I have one butter nut squash. I can not wait to try it. Next year I want to plant some cantaloup. Look how much my cotton has grown.

It has been so hot around here we went over to the pasture to take a ride down to the pond but the cows thought it was hot to!!

These were standing under the pier to stay out of the sun.
Well I will close here. Thanks for stopping by.

Ladies night out...

I got to have another ladies night out. One of my friends in the neighborhood had a pool party for the moms at church. Each was a very good night.

Here is the table of food we had

Doesn't the pool look inviting

I really wish we had a pool. I have always wanted one. When I was little I tried digging one in the back yard when we lived in Rockingham. My dad worked for the parks and recreations and I could go swimming everyday in the pool. I loved it. I have always had a love for water. The beach,  the river and swimming pools. Now that I am adult I don't have much chances to do any of them like I did when I was young.

It was a great night and I hope she does another one before the summer is over.

On another note a sweet little puppy showed up out at grandmas house today. I really wanted to keep him but it is not the right time to have a puppy. It was a little yappy puppy.

We feed him and gave him water and was trying to find him a home but he left unless he is back tomorrow morning.

Thanks for stopping by.

Gardening

Well things have been moving right along around the farm. I got over ran with zucchini and green beans so I got the Farmer to mow them down. I froze several pack of shredded zucchini and spaghetti the zucchini. I hope I remember to use it this winter. We still have cucumbers coming in I have put up 4 gallons of pickles so far. I would love to find a good sweet gherkins pickle recipe. Our tomatoes have end rot really bad I finally got enough to make my first batch of salsa tonight.  I got 17 pints .

We have been getting some spaghetti squash but the two I have cooked so far did not string out like spaghetti. They tasted good though. We dug our potatoes and they are so good. They have blown my idea of eating less carbs all to crap. But I have had some yummy baked potatoes, stewed potatoes, and french fries. Oh well. Taters are good.

It has been so hot around here that I don't go out for long periods of time. I usually wait until the evenings to go pick the garden. We usually take a Kawasaki mule ride to cool off. This day the cows were hot to. They were in the pond but the sun was shining on the pond so two calfs were under the pier.

Well thanks for stopping by. Hope all is well with all of you.

Skunks

More skunks have been spotted in the pasture in front of our house. We had 4 skunks in the pasture yesterday evening. I only got pictures of 3 of them. One of them was almost all white..

The mostly white skunk

Later when the farmer came back from the chicken house there was one more skunk but we could not get a picture of it.

There was a neat frog sitting on the post watching them to.

July....

Tomorrow is July 4th. Do you have big celebrations to go to? We don't do anything special at our house it will be like any other day. Our garden is coming in strong. We have green beans coming in like crazy. I have canned 21 quarts so. But this made me have 100 counting what I had left over. I bought another bag of corn and I may can some of it this week. I am frustrated with our tomatoes they have end rot. I am really wanting to can some salsa this year, we are almost out of salsa. We eat it almost everyday.  I wish I had some pictures of all my produce but I am slack at taking them. We have lots of zucchini and no body wants any of them. The cows would not even eat them. Oh well I froze a bunch and I am planning on eating some everyday but we will never be able to eat them.

I will try to get some pictures of my produced tomorrow. I did get a picture of a skunk in our pasture yesterday.
it looked up to get a picture
We went out for a ride on our Kawasaki mule yesterday and one of the barn cats that has been name Eddie Haskell came running out to ride on the mule with us. He is such a sweet kitty.

The other 2 barn kitties.
When we got back home Jimmy came walking up and he was covered in red mud.

I have joined another accountable challenge group. I am trying a new program 21 day fix extreme. Day one was hard and I had to modified but I got through it. I was going to try to eat less carbs but I blowed it by eating corn on the cob. I love corn on the cob my favorite summertime treat. We have lots of fruit and veggies in the house and I love it. The house is clutter and cabinets and fridge or full but I love it!!

Well thanks for stopping by.
