Tomatoes... One happy woman...

My tomatoes started coming in. I am one happy woman. I love to can salsa, spaghetti sauce and this year I canned some soup starter. I hope we have a lot more tomatoes. I have already canned around 100 pints of salsa. I canned 9 quarts of sop starter and 1 pint.  The next batch of ripe ones I am making spaghetti sauce. I hope the Farmer kills a lot of deer this winter. I love ground deer meat in my soup and spaghetti.

We also found a bunch of concord grapes on the vines at grandma's house. The hedge bushes have almost taken over the vine but I talked the Farmer into cutting it away so we could get to the grapes.

I hope to make some jelly with them. We set an owl decoy out there hoping to keep the birds from eating them all. We also noticed some milkweed in the field. I have not seen any in a very long time.

I had the Farmer plow down the green beans, squash and cucumbers. It had gotten so hot around here they were not doing good any more and I had an over abundance of them. I have made 4 gallons of pickles, frozen 30 quarts of shredded zucchini  and I have a bushel of spaghetti squash. I don't know what to do with that many.

I have one butter nut squash. I can not wait to try it. Next year I want to plant some cantaloup. Look how much my cotton has grown.

It has been so hot around here we went over to the pasture to take a ride down to the pond but the cows thought it was hot to!!

These were standing under the pier to stay out of the sun.
Well I will close here. Thanks for stopping by.

  1. You're one busy gal . . . our tomatoes are just starting to turn red, a few a day, but just wait until mid August :) I do have peppers and cucumbers though and will be making pickles very soon. Winter will be here before we know it.
