Update on diet and things around farm.

Not much going on around here. I am on my fourth week of doing my Hammer and Chisel workout. I have already lost an 8 inch all over. I was totally shocked losing 2.5 inches in my thighs were I was really wanting to lose. I am a little disappointed that the scales keep moving up and down on the same 3 pounds. I pray everyday for guidance to get my eating under control. I know I should be really happy with the inches going away but they seem to come back even with a change in exercise. I really want to lose before I turn 50 which is coming in April. I am working hard but I just can not get this food thing together. I have been drinking my protein shakes, exercising and trying to get my steps in.

Tracking my food. See how many calories I ate?

That is enough about that. We went out to grandmas house yesterday while the weather has been so nice. I really want to be more self-sufficient with supplying food for our family now that we have bigger garden space. The Farmer wen out and plowed a spot up for us a corn patch. We have not planted corn in years. I am so excited. We are planning on planting a potato patch, zucchini, and spaghetti squash. We are going to trim up the grape vines and hope that they will have grapes this year. We have two tame blackberry vines we are going to plant soon. I will take pictures when we do. Today we just went out to plow and to see little Blackie it has been a while since I seen her.

Oh yeah I am reading the bible through again this year. I am doing it with my friend. I am enjoying reading it again. The last two days I have been so sleepy and it makes me sad that I almost fall asleep while reading. But I pray for guidance and help through my lord and savior Jesus Christ everyday.

Went on a hike

It has been a while since the boys agreed to go on a hike in the woods with hills every since we fell down Morrow Mountain. We decided to go to Troy Lake Park and walk 4 miles. I was so proud of Seth. He lead us the whole way with his walking stick and he did not get anxious or scared.

We had a great time and even worked up a little sweat. It was a nice day to be outs since we have all had a cold and the Farmer is still coughing. It makes it harder for him to get rid of a cold working in the dusty chicken houses also the fact that it is 90* in the houses with little biddies.

I hope this means that we will get to take more hikes this year and that the boys will enjoy and not complain.

FOOD, Freezing rain, sleet and snow....

Well the first week of the new year has not started off as planned. I was all prepared to get back on track with my eating/counting calories. Also started my new exercise program  Hammer and Chisel. I have eaten horrible and have not kept track of my food intake because it has been that bad. I have been eating Toll House Chocolate chip cookies the refrigerator kind that you bake. I have had chips, chips and salsa with melted cheese. Biscuits and jelly good homemade blackberry jelly from my friend. And today I had Krispy Kream doughnuts. Am I suppose to be on a diet or eating healthy? What happen to me? Like before I have kept up the exercise like a good little exerciser, but the healthy eating went down the drain. I was so happy that for most part I only gained a little over a pound for the holidays. Since January 1 I have gained another pound. Actually I am not sure my scales are right I think the battery is just about dead

No I did not eat all the ones that are gone but I helped a lot!

Well all of this cold weather has made it so easy to eat. Also the boys have had some cold with mostly snot but I feel like I am catching some of it today. My throat is a little sore feeling. We have a new flock supervisor or we call him a chicken man. He went bear hunting and brought us some bear meat. I cooked it and made a big pot of veggie/bear soup and it was so yummy!

bear meat yummy!
I have also been crocheting trying not to snack so much. I made a few more messy bun hats

Now to get to the snow, sleet and freezing rain. I so wanted some pretty snow. I love to watch big snowflakes falling to the ground but it all started as freezing rain and sleet. During the night and until 12 noon the next day it snowed. Not a big accumulation but it did snow.

Christmas with family

We had Christmas with my sister and her family and my brother and his family on Monday after Christmas. We had a wonderful time with food, gifts and lots of talk. I hate that the kids are growing up so fast. Mine are 24 and 21 my sisters are 15 and 13 and my brothers are 7 and 4. I just hope that we will keep up the family get together even after everyone is grown. Here are a few pictures.

Christmas with the Farmers family was on Friday before Christmas. His sister and her family had to have christmas at her house so we did not get to see them. My nephews got to come home from deployment for Christmas so that was nice for them.

Oh yeah on Christmas day a beautiful red bird hit the truck and stunned himself. You know what they say a red bird is a visitor from heaven.

Today is January 1st and I hope this is the beginning of Change and Hope. Hope was the other word that was talking to me to take on for the year because it is so easy for us to lose Hope. I am hoping that 2017 brings so much joy, happiness and God filled days. Did you all eat your traditional new year day food consisting of pork, collards, black eyed peas, and cornbread.

I was lazy this year pork chops from crockpot, peas from a can, collards from a can and jiffy cornbread muffins.
Oh well it was good. Our collard did not do good in the garden this year. I am hoping next year will be better for them also. Well I turned this into a long post with lots of pictures. I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
